Power Trilogy Book 2: Strike of Sword

I'm proud to announce that my second book is Finished!!!!!! It feels like it took longer than it really did. Book one was published last March, and I began writing the sequel almost immediately. That's only sixteen months of painfully slow progress. either way, the book is finished, but not ready to upload. I still have to format it and I want to go over it one more time because I always miss grammar mistakes. I plan to upload it to Smashwords.com next weekend just like my first book.

This wouldn't be possible without all of the support I get from my family and friends. It is truly a privilege to get to share my imagination with all of them and all of you. There will be a post when the book is uploaded. Thank you all for everything.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Review

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a series by Rick Riordan written between 2005 and 2009. The basic premise is that the Greek gods are real, and throughout history they have children with regular people. Percy Jackson is the son of a Greek god, and a prophecy is made in which he fights powerful beings and saves the world.

These books are great for kids. The integration of Greek mythology into the modern world is creative and fun. The pace is easy and there is action and suspense every chapter. The characters are multifaceted and face real problems aside from saving the world, including family relationships, friendship, and living with disabilities (Percy has AD/HD and dyslexia). The plot is creative and the series has an ending that I did not see coming from anywhere.

If you've never read these, I recommend them, and also for your kids if you have any. Riordan's first series is great, and his newer ones are definitely on my list to read next.

It takes me forever to remember that this blog exists. I'm going through a lot on subjects I told myself I would never post about on this blog. Classes started up a week ago, and they take just about all of my time. In May 2015 I will be done with school, and I'm still deciding what I want to do after that. Will I dive straight into teaching, or will I try something else for a little while? I'm looking into joining the Americorps (NCCC, FEMA, etc.). Still writing of course, and just about done with edits. Since my classes started, they have become my priority, so days go by before I have the energy to go over more than a paragraph at a time. It's slow, but I have one more chapter to go over. I'm considering changing the ending (just a little bit) but I'm not sure how. My other little escape has been reading new things. I finally got around to reading a novel series I've wanted to read for a long time. In a few weeks I've almost finished a whole series; I'll post a review when I do finish. I need to hibernate, but I can't just yet. Lots to do here still, and no one is going to do it for me.
